Church service program
1. Start of the service
When the organ stops playing, the church service begins. The church council enters.
At the front of the church, God’s blessing is sought and there is a moment of
silent prayer. Most of the men stand. Everyone personally asks
God for His blessing.
2. Blessing
The service begins with the recitation of the blessing. This blessing is found
in the Bible.
Blessing:
Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth,
who keeps faith forever and never forsakes the works of His
hands. (Bible: Psalm 124:8 and 138:8)
Grace to you and peace from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ,
through the Holy Spirit. Amen.
(Bible: 1 Corinthians 1:3)
3. Zingen - Psalm 147:3
Want God heeft Zijn getuigenis gegeven

4. Reading the law
After the singing, God’s law is read. Here we hear God’s good will. God’s law is found in the Bible (Exodus 20:1-17) and is also called the Ten Commandments.

7. Prayer
Praying is talking with God. In prayer, we thank God for who He is, what
He has done, and what He will do. We also ask for His help and blessing for the
service, so that we may get to know and love Him (even more). In prayer,
we also bring our needs and concerns to the Lord. We believe that He is a
Helper in times of need. Sometimes special intercession or thanksgiving is offered.
This is then mentioned before the prayer.

Welzalig hij, die in der bozen raad
Niet wandelt, noch op ’t pad der zondaars staat,
Noch nederzit, daar zulken samenrotten,
Die roekeloos met God en godsdienst spotten;

Collection
The collection is now being taken.
The deacons will come around with collection bags. Everyone is free to voluntarily
contribute money or vouchers for the service of God. The purpose of the collection will be announced beforehand.
9. Sermon
After singing, a sermon is given or read. Usually, the sermon consists of a main theme and a number of sub-themes, also referred to as ‘points’ or ‘thoughts’.
Furthermore, there is singing once or sometimes several times during the sermon.
Furthermore, there is one and sometimes several songs during the sermon,
which is indicated and also mentioned on the digital boards. The sermon
always ends with the word ‘Amen’. This means: it will be true and
certain.
10. Prayer
At the end of the service, we thank the Lord God for what He has given
and ask His blessing on what we have heard and sung in church.
11. Zingen - 119:1
Na het dankgebed wordt er weer gezongen. Soms worden er ook nog
mededelingen voor de gemeente doorgegeven.

Welzalig zijn d’ oprechten van gemoed,
Die, ongeveinsd, des HEEREN wet betrachten;
Die Hij op ’t spoor der godsvrucht wand’len doet;
Welzalig die, bij dagen en bij nachten,

12. Prayer of blessing
The service is now almost over. Everyone stands and receives God’s blessing.
Blessing:
The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God the Father and
the comforting fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all, amen.
(Bible: 2 Corinthians 13:13)
After the benediction, the church council is the first to leave the church hall. When the organ begins to play, everyone leaves the church hall.
